After all, it is not just Cabo Delgado! Insurgency dynamics in Nampula and Niassa – IDeIAS nº 138E

Based on fieldwork in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa, this IDeIAS nº 138E, the English version of IDeIAs nº 138P, co-authored by Salvador Forquilha and João Pereira, analyses the insurgency through the dynamics in some districts of Nampula and Niassa. The text argues that understanding the development of the insurgency in Cabo Delgado involves, among other aspects, the analysis of social, economic and religious dynamics in the provinces of Nampula and Niassa, which have become fertile spaces for recruitment, particularly since 2018.
